Landscaping..........

Just wanted to show everyone some of the landscaping that we've been doing. Along the garage side of the house we planted a mixure of bushes and flowers between this year and last (with a little help from Beck's mom last summer) and on the island in the front of the house by the garage we added some flowers and small flowering bushes ( the azaeleas and cherry tree were already there).

The other 2 pictures are of the 2 new trees we had planted in the front of the house.
The green medium sized one is called an Arborvitae. It will grow about 25 feet tall and 10 feet wide eventually and replaced the big tree we had moved to the back yard (the one in the middle in the pictures on the back yard blog entry). The small tree is a Crimson Queen Japanese Maple. It only gets to be about 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide but its a very pretty tree with funky red leaves when its full grown.

Donny With POWER TOOLS!!

I know it might be hard to believe but I actually do own power tools. The shelves you see in these pictures were built by Sam and I. I have most Saturdays off and have been going to Sams house to build stuff.

The tall shelf was built first. To be honest with you Sam did most of the cutting and nailing on the first shelf while I helped and then wood puttied and sanded. I'm going to paint it red and then black over it. Then I will sand off some of the black so the red shows through. It's going to go in the great room. Then on the second piece I cut alot of the wood, nailed and glued alot of it together. It was really cool to create something. I'm going to paint it the same white as Bray's room and thats where it's going.

Decorating the kitchen

We decided to decorate on top of the kitchen cabinets. Because of the height of the ceilings it looked kinda plain. We got a couple items as presents and we bought most of the other things at a store called Hobby Lobby. My mom would have loved that place!!

Back yard part 2

It's Finished!!!!! The yard came out great. It will take a couple of weeks to take root and to green up all the way. For now we have to water it 3 times a day but it's finally done!We transplanted the big tree from the front yard to the middle in the back. Then we had 6 Leyland Cyprus trees, 3 on either side. Then had 2 Spirea bushes planted in the corners.
The bushes will eventually get about 6 foot by 6 foot and the trees can grow to be 60 feet tall!!! Granted that won't be for 20 to 30 years.

The back yard part 1

When we bought the house it comes with 20 pallets of sod (grass) and then they seed and straw your back yard to grow grass for the rest. 20 pallets is a little over 10,000 square feet of grass and covered our front and side yards and about 10 feet off the back. The part they seeded and strawed never grew.

We had to wait until spring to have the back regraded so we could have it sodded. 17 more pallets of sod later and the back yard is on its way.........

Savannah Georgia

We went to Savannah Georgia for the day on Saturday May 20th. We got to visit Doug (bass player in my last 2 or 3 bands) and his family at his new house about 10 minutes from Savannah.

This city is very cool and rich in history. One of its more famous areas is River Street. River Street is a cobble stone street with tons of restaurants and shops. There were a few candy shops where they make the candy right there that we visited.

I also got a picture of the pregnant lady (even though from far away) with a people bridge behind her. We did a trolley tour of the city and had dinner at a little place on River Street. All in all a very fun day. Savannah is about a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive from our house.
